Short-order Cook

I have many occupations. Wife. Mother. Taxi-cab driver (to dance class, piano lessons, Girl Scouts). Maid. Doctor (administator of band-aids, ice packs and medicine). Party planner (birthdays).

And let's not forget Short-Order Cook. There are many nights that I make several dinners for the family. Example: When I make spaghetti and meatballs, Kylie doesn't like tomato sauce so she gets spaghetti noodles mixed with butter and parmesan cheese. She likes meatballs, but not on the noodles. She likes them on a separate plate, with a side of ranch dressing to dip them in. Sophie likes tomato sauce, but the meatballs have to be cut up and stirred in with the sauce, and all of it covered in parmesan cheese. She likes garlic bread but with the crusts cut off. Steve likes spaghetti with tomato sauce, but likes the meatballs placed on top of the noodles and sauce.

Another example: Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. Sophie loves tomato soup with freshly ground pepper on top. She's not crazy about grilled cheese and has to have the crust cut off. Kylie loves grilled cheese but is not crazy about tomato soup. She likes the crust on, but has to have a side of ranch to dip her sandwich in (do you see a trend here? The girl loves ranch). Steve likes tomato soup but not grilled cheese.

Even something like ordering pizza can be complicated. Steve likes thin crust with pepperoni. Kylie likes thick crust with sausage. She does not like pepperoni. Sophie likes pepperoni and sausage, but only regular crust. I like pretty much anything except mushrooms, pineapple and anchovies. I love banana peppers, ham and onion pizza, but never get to order that because no one else will eat it.
