Derby

On May 1st Steve and I attended a Derby Party (celebrating the Kentucky Derby horse race). It was held at the Vereastau house in Aurora. The house was built in the 1800s and is now rented out for weddings and events. It sits on a hill overlooking the Ohio River...the views are beautiful. The party was for charity, and there were a couple hundred people in attendance. I bought a straw hat to decorate but I ran out of time due to Sophie's birthday party earlier that day, so I just wore the hat without decorations.

There was a dixieland band, raffles, great food (fried chicken, bbq, etc) and even horse-driven carriage rides. Steve convinced me to do the carriage ride with him. It was a little scary when the horse started running, but still fun.

When I got home the girls decided to dress up in my shoes and hat!
