The Girls

After the previous depressing post all about my father and his cancer, I decided I needed to post something positive. So I'm posting updates about the girls.

Kylie: In just a few short days will be our 5-year Family Day with her. In July 2004 we held her in our arms in Kunming, China for the first time. Every year we go to Olive Garden to celebrate our Family Day with her, and of course she expects a present. This year we bought her the entire PowerPuff Girls dvd collection.

The best way to describe Kylie is that she's just a nice, sweet person. She is crazy about her little sister, in fact I've never seen someone her age love a sibling as much as she loves Sophie. When I pick Kylie up from school, she usually has made something for Sophie in class. The other day she made a card for Sophie and drew turtles all over it, because she knows how much Sophie loves turtles. If Kylie and I are gone for an hour running errands, she will tell me she misses Sophie- that is how much she loves her. Don't get me wrong, they have some vicious fights, but 10 minutes later they are back to playing and laughing.

Sophie: Sophie is just a spitfire, plain and simple. She is too smart for her own good. She is 3 going on 30. She has the sense of humor of an adult. And her imagination is like nothing I've seen for a 3 year old. She will pretend that anything is someone-- a pair of socks becomes someone named "Talking Socks" who sings and bites people. A baby bottle belonging to one of Kylie's dolls becomes "Goo" who will breaking into singing, "Our God Is An Awesome God" in a silly falsetto voice. All adults get a kick out of her, particularly her teachers and my dad. She is just a crazy, funny, opinionated kid.
