When we purchased the house, the girls' bathroom had a standup shower with white and royal blue tiles. The floor was white tiles with a border of dark orange/blue flowered tiles (see 2nd photo). The vanity was a dark wood color. The sink was a plastic but marbled with grey and off-white. The toilet was disgusting. And the walls were sponge-painted several shades of brown. Everything had to go.
This is the room we spent the most time renovating. There's only 2 full bathrooms, and our bathroom has a very deep tub, so we decided to remove the standup shower and replace it with a bathtub. We ripped out all the tile in the shower and replaced it with a taupe ceramic tile with a slate mosaic border. The shower head was replaced too.
We removed the tile floor and put in new slate tiles. The toilet was taken out and replaced with a new one. New vanity, sink, light fixtures and towel racks, too. Lastly the walls were painted a neutral shade.
