What's New

Again, it's been awhile since my last update.

Kylie and Sophie started their new school two weeks ago and have adjusted wonderfully. It helps that they get to see each other at snack times. Sophie's teacher is an older woman named Mrs. Haas and she is just crazy about Sophie. Each day I get a written report about the girls' day. Yesterday's report of Sophie written by Mrs. Haas said, "She is such a good little girl. I just love to see her each day." Sophie told me that Mrs. Haas holds her a lot. Perhaps she's not too young to be teacher's pet?

Kylie enjoys school too. One of her teachers at her former school now teaches at this school so Kylie is very happy. When I pick Kylie up from school she's often doing jigsaw puzzles with this teacher. Jigsaw puzzles are one of Kylie's favorite things to do.

Kylie will graduate from preschool next week, May 29th! Can you believe it? Seems like just yesterday she was a baby and in August she'll start kindergarden.

On June 5th Kylie will test for her blue belt in tae kwon do. She began with a white belt, then yellow, then orange, then green and now she has purple. If she keeps this up she'll have her black belt in another year or so.

This summer I signed Kylie up for acrobatics/tumbling and cheerleading. Both classes are offered by the community center and they are very reasonably priced. The acrobatics/tumbling is $15 for 6 weeks and the cheerleading is $10 for 3 months.

I'm still working 3 days a week for the gas company. I enjoy my job for the most part. Every time I get bored or frustrated at work I remind myself how lucky I am to have a job in this economy. Three of my friends have recently lost their jobs. One was a teacher, one worked for an insurance company and another worked for a radio station. I hope they find jobs soon, it's so hard right now.

We're planning a trip this summer to Myrtle Beach. We're hoping my father and stepmother can go with us. It depends on what my father finds out in two weeks. As you know, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in Feb 2008 and underwent chemo, radiation and surgery. In another week he goes in for a scan to see if there are any more tumors. If no tumors we're all going to Myrtle Beach to celebrate. If there are tumors...well, I'm not sure what will happen. Hopefully we won't have to cross that bridge.

Below are some photos of Kylie taken before church two weeks ago. Her poses, especially the 2nd from the bottom, crack me up.
