Today was a busy day. Kylie had school and Sophie was home with me. Steve and I have been wanting to buy Kylie a new bed. The bed she currently has is a white metal twin daybed. It's very cute and girly, but daybeds are a nuisance to try to make. You have to essentially stuff the sheets and comforter in, and I'm tired of dealing with it. Plus, we want to get her a larger bed, a full size. I've slept in her bed before, and since it's a daybed, you are surrounded on three sides with the metal slats. Not comfortable.
So today I decided to go to a local furniture store to check out beds. I knew in my mind exactly what I wanted. I wanted the bed to be white, wood and not too girly. After searching through many catalogs at the furniture store I found the bed. Steve met me there and he liked it too. The headboard was $269, but then we had to buy the mattress set. The cheapest mattress set was not made well, and not comfortable. We bought the 3rd least expensive one, it was very comfortable and made well. That was another $550, plus $70 for the metal frame and $35 for delivery and then tax. They are having a sale on September 11th, so they said they could place the order then and we would save an extra 5%. We're not in any hurry to get her new bed, so we agreed. The bed should be delivered in another 3-4 weeks.
I sold Kylie's old bed on Craig's List and the family is picking it up tomorrow night. I love Craig's List. It's free, and I've sold the bed plus our washer and dryer in the past.
After the furniture store I was on a goose chase to find a copy of season 4 of Desperate Housewives. It was just released on dvd yesterday and Season 5 starts up on tv in a few weeks, so I really need to hurry up and watch all of season 4 so I know what's going on. The first two video stores were out of it but then the Blockbusters in our town had some available copies. By that time Sophie felt really hot so we went home and I gave her some more Motrin, and then lunch.
She took a 3 hour nap, then I had to pick Kylie up from school and pick up her friends Angus and Vincent for tae kwon do. After tae kwon do we went out to eat with Lili (Kylie's friend who is also adopted from China) and her parents, then home for bath and bed.
Some good news...I may possibly have a part-time job. Steve writes the insurance for a local gas company and they are looking for a part-time office person. This would be perfect for me because I could work on Tuesday & Thursday when both girls are in school, and the location is only 10 miles away and it sounds like they are pretty flexible. I meet with the CFO of the company tomorrow at noon. Wish me luck.
