Movies

I haven't taken any recent photos. I'll probaby do so tomorrow at the picnic we're attending.

I've seen a bunch of movies/dvds lately, so I thought I'd post about those:

  • Penelope is the dvd I watched last night. It stars Christina Ricci, James McAvoy, Reese Witherspoon and Catherine O'Hara. It's about a girl named Penelope (played by Ricci) who was born cursed with a pig nose. It's a fairy tale and I don't see it appealing to men (chick flick alert!) but I really enjoyed it.
  • Spiderwick Chronicles is a movie that Kylie's been wanting to watch for awhile. To be honest, I can't tell you what it's about. We saw only the first 10 minutes of it. Kylie got scared, freaked out and made us turn it off :)
  • Kung Fu Panda was a fun movie. Kylie's already seen it twice. I love the message of the film and the animation (particularly of China scenery) is great.
  • Sex & The City (movie): I saw this a couple months ago in the theater. It was a good film, again a typical chick flick. When I saw it with my friend, there were only 2 other people in the theater...two elderly women, one on oxygen and one with a walker! If you enjoy the SATC show when it was on tv, you'll probably like the film too.
  • Wall-E: another one that I saw in the theater with Kylie. Another great Pixar film. It has a dark topic (humans trashing planet Earth; humans being depicted as fat and lazy), but Kylie didn't pick up on any of that.
  • Be Kind Rewind starring Jack Black and Mos Def. I watched 30 minutes of this film while on the treadmill but I couldn't get into it. It was very slow and not very funny, which is a shame because I love Jack Black.
  • Desperate Housewives, Seasons 1-3: This show has been on for 4 years, but I just finally got around to watching it, on dvd. I'm always slow to watch shows. I didn't start watching Grey's Anatomy until it had been on for a few years, same thing with Sex & the City. I love Desperate Housewives! I devoured all 3 seasons within a week. My favorite character is Bree Van De Camp/Hodge. I just wish my house could be as spotless as hers!

We saw Spiderwick & plan to watch Penelope, Kung Fu Panda, and WallE eventually (on dvd as we almost never go to the theatre). Thans for the reviews.
