One of those days...

Today was just one of those days when I couldn't wait for it to end. After I dropped the girls off at school I assembled Big Sis' Barbie bike. The instructions said the bike can be "assembled in minutes" but it actually took me almost an hour! It was mainly because the instructions weren't correct. They gave me instructions for a BMX Barbie bike, and hers was just a plain old Barbie bike. I finally figured it out, but it took awhile.

Then I went outside and trimmed our Japanese maple tree and our weeping cherry tree. I got the ladder out because the Japanese maple is pretty tall. It was very windy out and I almost fell off the ladder.

I did get to read part of a book while sitting on our back patio, and that was relaxing...wind and all. My father and hubby built me a privacy fence around the patio, so it is secluded and quiet. It was a little cold outside from the wind, so I wrapped my legs in a fleece blanket. I could have fallen asleep out there, but there was too much stuff to do, so I went in.

After lunch I went downstairs and put price tags on stuff for our garage sale. We're having a garage sale on Saturday May 17th...actually our whole neighborhood is. I have tubs and tubs full of clothing that no longer fits the girls. While pricing their clothes I realized that they have wayyy too many clothes. Many of the outfits had never been worn and a few still had price tags on them! Most of the clothes were gifts from people. I'd say I only bought maybe 25% of all the clothes. I will be so glad to get rid of them and clear out the basement.

After pricing the stuff I went to the store to buy some items. On the way home it started pouring down rain. Luckily I remembered to bring in the book and blanket from the patio. I did wash, cleaned the kitchen, vaccumed, the usual stuff.

I lost track of time and rushed to pick the girls up from school. All in the pouring rain. Tonight was tae kwon do. I didn't have time to drive them back to the house for Big Sis to change into her uniform, so I brought it with me. We picked up Angus at the restaurant, and of course he chose to jump in a huge puddle right as I'm getting him in the door. So now it's pouring rain and the bottom 6" of my sweatpants are wet from him.

Little Sis has a meltdown in the car because Barney is not on. I had rented a Disney princess movie for them, as I am soooo, soooo tired of Barney. Everytime I hear his voice or Baby Bop's voice I shudder, esp. Baby Bop's. So, Little Sis fussed the whole way to tae kwon do.

Once we got to tae kwon do and got inside (still pouring down rain), Little Sis had a MAJOR meltdown and could not be consoled. I'm thinking she probably didn't sleep much at daycare (she never does when she goes there). Regardless, she would not stop shrieking and it was affecting the tae kwon do class so I drove her home and Daddy drove Big Sis & Angus home after class.

Once we got home Little Sis was still fussy. Daddy and Big Sis got home 30 minutes later than they should have because Daddy was talking to the instructor. So by now it's 6;30, Little Sis is hungry and fussy and I'm getting ready to lose it.

We went to Perkins for dinner. Bad choice. Usually the place is dead but tonight they had several softball teams there and the place was packed. It took forever for our food to arrive, and our waitress was horrible. When our food arrived I had to send mine back because I asked for no tomatoes on my omelet and of course they put tomatoes on it. Then when they did give me the omelet, I still found tomato in it but by this time I was so hungry I just ate it. Little Sis and Big Sis were so hungry that they both ate every single bite of their dinner, which is unheard of. The manger took 30% off our dinner, of which I'm glad.

By the time we left Perkins it was 8 pm and I still had to bathe the girls. I had to wash their hair because I didn't do it last night and if you don't do it every other night the tangles are ridiculous. So, I was exhausted and still had to bath them. As I'm letting the tub fill up with water, Little Sis leans in to get a toy and literally falls head first into the tub of water. I was right there but couldn't get to her in time before she fell in. She starts screaming hysterically and I pick her up out of the tub but now I'm drenched with tub water....

After bath time, all I wanted to do was watch some American Idol and crash. The girls, however, had other plans. They were both grouchy (like me) and were fighting over a sippy cup with mango juice (their favorite juice this week). Then they fought over a book, then they fought over a toy. I was ready to pull my hair out.

We finally got them settled into bed around 10 pm. I can't wait for this day to be over with.

(Below are two photos of Big Sis showing off her blue tongue...the result of a blueberry sno-cone).

Sorry you had such a rough day! Hope today is going better. :-) I am impressed at your mechanical abilities. I am quite certain I couldn't have figured out how to assemble a bike if they included the wrong directions.

Your girls are too cute! Lane asked me the other day if I would take him to the acquarium in your home town (don't know if you have that location public). Would you be interested in meeting us for an afternoon adventure one day in June? I would love to meet you and your girls.
