...So we finished looking at the backyard and entered the home. The home had additions put in twice, by both owners. This created more rooms, but the problems were that the rooms were not only small, but also cheaply done, thereby rendering them almost useless (not to mention lowering the value of the house, in my opinion).
This photo below is that the realtor called "her library." This "library" (and I use this term loosely) consisted of a 10x10' room with ugly built-in shelves, one large window which needed to be replaced, hideous carpet, hideous wallpaper and kitty cat curtains.
This photo below is of the carpet in several of the rooms. Almost every room was carpeted. Some rooms had blue carpet, bright red carpet, green carpet, pink carpet and tan carpet. All the carpet was badly stained. Not sure why she had so much carpet, as there were hardwood floors underneath and from what I saw the hardwood appeared to be in decent shape. She even carpeted over the bathroom tile floor!
The photo below is what the realor advertised as "the spa room next to the master bedroom." This room was added on, and not very well either. The "spa room" consisted of this 20 year old jacuzzi tub, astroturf floor, and a wall of fake flowers. The realtor said that the old lady used the jacuzzi a lot for her arthritis. Eck. She had cheap windows installed that were supposed to look like leaded stained glass, but they were plastic.
The photo below is what you would see if you were sitting in the jacuzzi in the "spa room." The whole wall is fake plastic flowers, and an ugly fountain. Notice the fake leaded stained glass windows (plastic).
Literally every single room had wallpaper. Even the closets had wallpaper. And this is something I'd never seen before....the ceilings were wallpapered. The photo below is wallpaper in one of the bedrooms. Imagine this...fire engine-red carpet with this wallpaper. The color of the wallpaper is difficult to see in this photo. That's because it was shiny metallic silver with this toile print. Hideous.
The photo below is what I call "the cat room." The wallpaper was kitty cats and there was a large framed photo of a cat on the left side of the room. The closet you see was also wallpapered, but with a different print. Even the shelves in the closet were wallpapered. The only good thing about this room is the hardwood floor.

As we have been house hunting I too have been amazed at how some have their homes decorated. One that sticks out in my mind almost the WHOLE house (but none of the bedrooms) had purple walls and red/maroon carpet. It hurt my eyes to look at it for a few minutes let alone LIVE there. I don't mind a purple bedroom but not a whole purple house!!! I too have never seen wallpaper on the ceiling before. That seems crazy she won't come down on the price at all!!!
