Today was Little Sis' first day of school (daycare). We awoke early to the sound of rain and thunder. Usually we sleep until 8:30 or 9 (I know, we're spoiled!). Today we awoke around 7. I got the girls ready and took them to school. Big Sis and I dropped Little Sis off first. Andrew The Bully was there and the teacher said he is a "terror" but she promised to keep an eye on Little Sis at all times to make sure he left her alone. Andrew walked up and started pulling on her legs. I firmly told him to stop. When I handed Little Sis to the teacher she threw a fit and was shrieking, like I knew she would. I then took Big Sis upstairs to the gym where her buddies were eating chocolate donuts with milk. When I went back downstairs I could still hear Little Sis crying :(
Filled with guilt and worry I went home and cleaned the house from top to bottom. I mopped the kitchen floor, did 3 loads of laundry, vacuumed, did dishes, took the trash cans in from outside, disinfected all the plastic toys and then went to the grocery store. After that I came home, unloaded the groceries, ate a quick lunch, took a shower and watched a few minutes of tv.
I picked the girls up from school at 2. When I walked into Little Sis' room she was sitting at the table with the other kids, eating crackers and drinking some white milk. She looked so grown up. When she saw me she smiled and yelled out, "Mama!"
The teachers (there's 2) said she did great, especially sleeping on the cot. They were amazed at how well she eats with a spoon and said that she is the only one in the room who eats with a spoon. They were also excited that she can drink from a regular cup in addition to the sippy cup. One of the teachers said, "I can tell that you spend a lot of time teaching her things" and that made me feel good. On the way out Little Sis blew a kiss to the teacher!
To celebrate we're going to Olive Garden tonight. Yum!
