Tuesday Nov. 30th

Words you don't want to hear from your contractor:

"Do you have a first-aid kit?"

On Friday -day after Thanksgiving- morning I was laying around the house with the girls, relaxing after a not-so-good Thanksgiving (more on that later) when Butch comes up the stairs and asks me for a first-aid kit. Apparently Zog was using the drill in the bathroom to tear up the concrete and sliced his finger. I gave him some gauze, neosporin and a band-aid. Butch was more worried about blood dripping onto the grout than he was about Zog. Zog left shortly after and didn't return until today.

I wish I could say that the basement is almost done, but it isn't. The ceiling tiles need to be installed, the banister needs to be put up, carpet layed, painting, granite countertops...the list goes on. The plumber messed up the bathroom due to him mismeasuring. This will cost our contractor an extra $200, not us.

Our painter's mother is in hospice so he hasn't been here. The cabinet company sent the wrong cabinet sizes. I just want this project to be done. At first they promised it would be completed by Thanksgiving. Now I wonder if it will be done by Christmas.
