Farmers and Frosting

Today was Sophie's Fall Party at school. They were instructed to dress as farmers. I was at a loss as to dress Sophie. Farmers wear overalls but we didn't have any, and they would be difficult to take on and off to go potty during school. We don't own any flannel shirts or straw hats or boots. Last night I went to K-Mart (the only store in our small town that sells clothing) and didn't have much luck. I did find a boys' red shirt with a little tractor embroidered on it. I also bought some rope to tie around her waist. K-Mart didn't have any farmer-ish hats but I remembered that Steve owns a John Deere baseball cap. I think it ended up looking pretty good.
For the fall party I signed up to bring orange frosting. I thought this would be an easy task. WRONG. I learned, after going to 4 different stores, that they don't sell orange frosting- not even during Halloween season. I bought a can of vanilla frosting and some food coloring. The result was PINK frosting, definately not orange-looking. The teacher later told Steve that all the parents in the other classes couldn't find orange frosting either.
