Pumpkins

The weather around here has been strange. This week we had rain, then cold temps in the 40s. Today started off cold but by early afternoon it was almost 80! Plus it was so windy that our heavy gas grill almost blew away. It was like a tornado. Not a good day to rake leaves but I was getting bored stuck in the house and wanted some fresh air.

Our new house has lots of big trees, so there are a ton of leaves to rake. I raked one bagful (an orange pumpkin bag below) and called it quits.

This morning while Kylie was at school we bought pumpkins at the local nursery. They reduced them to $1. With everything going on with my dad, I haven't felt festive but I need to get past that for the sake of my daughters. And it occurred to me that we've never carved pumpkins before. After dinner Kylie, Sophie and I carved pumpkins while Daddy napped. It was so much fun and Kylie loved getting the pumpkin slime all over her hands. Sophie had the little pumpkin and Kylie had the larger one. We are roasting the seeds as I type this...I hope they turn out well.

Beautiful pumpkins. Hope your roasted seeds turned out well. Good luck with your leaves - have Steve mulch them and save yourself the back breaking work.

Carving pumpkins is fun! I love the triangle eyes on Sophie's. Looks like Kylie had quite the bday celebration!!!
