Small Town

Although we only moved 5 miles from where we previously lived, at times it feels much further. Where we used to live was a mile from two grocery stores, two video stores, six gas stations, a K-Mart, various restaurants and fast-food places.

Where we live now there's a tiny McDonald's connected to one of only two gas stations, a Chinese restaurant, a Skyline Chili and that's about it. It's quite rural here.

The other day in our mail we received the local newsletter and I had to laugh. Here's a snippet of one of the articles:

"The Hidden Valley Homemakers met April 2nd at the Community Building. The meeting was opened by Jeanne leading the Pledge to the Flag, and the Homemakers Creed.

Roll Call was taken, each member sharing thoughts on "if you had a magic carpet, where would you go?"

Pat read a beautiful poem about Spring. Elmira gave a health tip about making sure you watch the expiration date carefully on any product that has yeast as an ingredient, such as cake mixes, pancake mix. If old, the yeast forms spores, which can be harmful..."

The article then talks about the local Blood Drive, Art Show and Spring Fling. Finally the article ends with:

"Lois gave the lesson on "Helping Others - Supporting a Friend/Family with Special Needs." We enjoyed a delicious dessert brought by Judy and Elmira."

. . . . . . . . .

Does anyone know what the Homemakers Creed is?
