I can honestly say that yesterday was one of the most stressful, horrible days of my life. First of all, we get a call from our realtor stating that the buyers were getting "cold feet" and wanted to look at the old house again Tuesday night (which was moving day for us). So, not only did we have to deal with moving, but now we had to deal with the flaky buyers possibly backing out of the deal. Luckily they didn't, but it was still stressful.
Then, the cable guy comes yesterday. He was here for 4 hours and didn't do anything. Well, he did leave several of our basement ceiling tiles on the floor and wires coming out of the ceiling, but he didn't install the cable outlets like we asked. He said he couldn't because of the way the house was laid out. He also forgot to leave me the correct cables for the high-speed internet modem, so I was without internet. The only reason I have internet now is because I took the cable off our modem at the old house. They're going to send out another worker on Friday, hopefully someone who is more competent.
And then there were the movers. Many items arrived damaged, the worst being my grandmother's antique wingback chair. The movers dropped it and busted the leg. It cannot be repaired based on the way it broke. They also broke Sophie's armoire and split the wood on both rails of her bed. A mattress pad was ripped that I bought only a couple months ago, and they broke off the cable connection on the back of our master bedroom television. Thank goodness I purchased replacement cost insurance, or else I'd be really really mad!
The ending to the crappy day was that there was no hot water in the girls' bathroom, so they had to take a cold bath, and our shower keeps dripping and we may have to rip out drywall to fix the problem.
Ugh!

I agree that moving is VERY stressful. Sorry you had so much damage to your belongings! Hope things start to settle down soon...
Ugh! That makes me sick that they broke your grandmother's chair.
