Scary Smart

Since I've been lazy in not updating my blog, I'm now inundating you with several posts in one day.

Sophie Update:
In the past few weeks, Steve and I have noticed how many new words Sophie is saying. She's been saying complete sentences, many at a time. I believe that she has the vocabulary of a five year old. She is so smart it's scary.

Sophie still sucks on her two fingers of her left hand when she's tired or scared. It's her coping/soothing mechanism. I've tried to get her to stop. Earlier in the week we were in the car driving home from school. I looked in the rearview mirror and caught her sucking on her fingers. I told her to stop. She took her fingers out of her mouth to tell me, "Leave me alone, Mama, leave me alone!" And then promptly put her fingers back in her mouth.

She idolizes Kylie and wants to do everything that big sis does. This sometimes works to our advantage, especially when it comes to food. If she sees Kylie eating something, she'll eat it. It also can be a disadvantage, like when she sees Kylie jumping on the bed (which she's not supposed to do) and then she does it.

Each and every day I continue to be amazed at the progress Sophie has made. She's still a tiny, petite litte girl, and probably always will be, but inside she is fiesty, opinionated and LOUD!

Kylie Update:
Kylie turned 5 less than three weeks ago but still tells anyone who will listen that she is a big girl now. She asks me, "Hey Mama, remember in the old days when I was 4?"

She gets more and more beautiful each day. I watch her when she's sleeping and I can't get over how pretty and delicate she looks. Wonderful skin, thick hair, pretty little mouth. I'm still trying to figure out what Steve and I did to deserve her.

It's not just looks though. She is an old soul, my best friend. At times she'll roll her eyes at me and complain just like a teenager, but then the next minute she will crawl into bed with me and ask me to tell her a story about when we went on a big airplane to bring her home.

Right now Kylie is heavily into both pirates and Barbies. She loves all things associated with pirates, which I love too. She loves watching a Scooby Doo Pirates Ahoy dvd that we've checked out of the library a gazillion times. And yet she is also crazy about Barbies. Right now she loves watching her Barbie & The Diamond Castle dvd. She informed me that when she grows up she wants to be a "pirate princess." Very different from a few months ago when she wanted to be an ambulance driver, and the month before that it was a dentist.
