Today was a strange day, weather-wise. It was cool, breezy and a little overcast but no rain. It felt like fall weather. I took the girls to the library for Monday story time. Sophie is really coming out of her shell and danced and jumped around to the songs.
After the library we came home and ate lunch. I made the girls chicken nuggets and pasta wheels with butter and parmesan cheese. They loved the noodles and ate two servings each.
After lunch Sophie took a nap. Kylie's almost outgrown naps, so she stayed up with me. When Sophie woke up we went outside to enjoy the nice weather. It's 5:15 now and I'm getting ready to make dinner...chicken picatta, white rice and steamed peas. We'll see how much picky Sophie will actually eat...probably not much.
In other news, I'm in the process of planning Kylie's birthday party. She'll turn 5 in a couple months. For the past two years we've had her parties at Chuck E. Cheese, which is nice except that it's across town and inconvenient for all the parents to take their kids there. Plus we had the parties at 10 a.m. before it gets really crowded, and it's difficult for some parents to get their children awake and dressed and across town by 10. I'm thinking of having the party at the local bowling alley this year. Kylie's been to two parties there in the past year. It's nice because it's 5 minutes from our house. It's about the same cost as a party at Chuck E. Cheese. They supply the pizza, drinks, bowling games and rental shoes for the children.
For now the plan is to have a Kung Fu Panda theme. I want to get the cake with a photo of Kylie in her tae kwon do uniform and I've already found Kung Fu Panda invites. I say "for now" because Kylie's preference could change at any minute!
