Don't let these photos fool you. Taking these photos was the only time all weekend that the girls stood still. They are both a bundle of energy, which inevitably leads to someone hitting the other, and ensuing crying. I can't tell you how many times this weekend Little Sis hit or pinched Big Sis, or how many times they accidentally head-butted each other.
Little Sis is from the Chinese province of Hunan, where they are known for spicy food, thus the girls from there are nicknamed The Spice Girls. When we first had Little Sis she was a quiet, docile little thing. She would just stare at us with her big, sad eyes. I was certain that she had not an ounce of "spice" in her.
Boy was I wrong! Little Sis has a set of lungs on her, which she demonstrates many times a day. Don't get me wrong...she's a very happy child, but if she doesn't get her way...WATCH OUT! Poor Big Sis. Little Sis is prone to pinch or hit Big Sis if she wants something that Big Sis has. I reprimand her, and she does apologize to Big Sis, and will hug and kiss her, but the past few days have been especially frustrating.
Today was Monday which meant both girls were home with me. We went to the bank and the grocery store, played outside, ate lunch and then all of us took a long nap. Little Sis slept a whopping three hours at nap. After the nap we played outside some more. Daddy had a meeting tonight and didn't get home until almost 9. I was definately looking forward to him coming home to relieve me.
Both girls have school tomorrow....I can't wait! I have a lot to do: mow the lawn, clean, make photocopies of Little Sis' paperwork for her readoption, go grocery shopping and pick up a new bike for Big Sis at Toys R Us. The work never ends. I don't know how I'd manage all of this if I was still working full-time.
Little Sis' vocabulary is exploding. She says several new words every day. Her favorite words right now are "Paper towel" and "Apple Juice." She likes it when I give her a paper towel, she uses it to wipe her face, hands, the kitchen counter, anything.
And the apple juice....she's obsessed with it! I put some in a sippy cup (diluted with water). She goes nuts if she doesn't have it with her at all times. Her latest thing is to wrap the sippy cup in her blanket and tell us, "Shhhh...apple juice sleeping." She treats her apple juice sippy cup like a baby. She pushes it in the doll stroller, she tucks it into the doll crib, she even puts it in the wagon and attempts to pull it. And my favorite is when she tells it, "I love you, apple juice!"
Tonight when I was at my wit's end, I called Little Sis a "ding dong." She cracked up. She loves that word and all night has been walking around saying "ding dong, ding dong."
It's never dull around here!
